Our printable labels allow you to make custom labels with your own inkjet or laser printer. In order to get your design to print the way you want on the page, our downloadable templates preset the margins to make inserting images and text as easy as possible. Here are a few guidelines to ensure that your project goes smoothly:
Find & Download the Correct Template
Search the part number, product name, or simply type “template” into the chromalabel.com search bar and select your product. Then click on the file type for your version of Microsoft Word. The template will now appear in your download file. When opened, a pre-formatted document will open for you to create your label design.
Update File Type
Make sure the template is in the most updated form for your version of Word. Go to ‘File’ and select ‘Update File’ if this option appears. If this option doesn’t appear, then your file is correct.
Formatting issues?
‘Table Tools’ ➔ ‘Format’ tab on the far right of the tool bar will be helpful for correcting several display and formatting problems. Grid-lines not showing up? Need your text to go another direction or align in a specific part of the label? These problems and more can be corrected with presets located in this part of the tool bar.
Layers
Sometimes inserted images are hard to manipulate in relation to the preset margins (especially in the round labels). Try changing the image layer in order to make it easier to move around and display correctly.
TESTER PAGE!
When you get the document formatted the way you want, try printing on a blank sheet of copy paper to see if what you created on the screen meets your expectations on paper. This also gives you a chance to know which side to face up to put your label stock in order to print correctly. Bypass or secondary printing trays may make this easier for you.
Printer Settings
